Everything clients ask us before their first booking — driver age, documents, deposits, insurance, mileage, mountain roads and payment.

Booking and payment

How do I pay, and can I cancel?

You can reserve online and pay by card. Free cancellation is available up to the cut-off shown in your booking confirmation; later cancellations and no-shows may be charged.

How far in advance should I book?

For ordinary dates a few days is enough. For the New Year holidays, Nauryz, the May holidays and the ski season from December to March, book two to three weeks ahead — crossovers and SUVs go first.

Is the price I see the price I pay?

Yes. The booking total includes the daily rate for your period, compulsory insurance and the stated mileage allowance. Optional extras are added only if you select them, and nothing is added after the rental.

Can I book for someone else?

You can make the reservation, but the main driver named on the agreement must be present at handover with their own licence, ID and bank card for the deposit.

Driver requirements and documents

How old do I have to be to rent a car in Kazakhstan?

Drivers are normally required to be at least 21 years old and to have held a valid driving licence for at least two years. Some premium and large SUV categories have a higher minimum age. The exact requirement for each model is shown during booking.

Which documents do I need to rent a car?

A valid driving licence, your passport or national ID, and a bank card in the main driver’s name for the security deposit. Visitors from countries that are not party to the Vienna Convention should also carry an International Driving Permit together with their national licence.

Can I add a second driver?

Yes. Bring their licence to the handover so they can be recorded on the rental agreement. Only drivers listed on the agreement are insured to drive the car.

Deposit and insurance

Is a security deposit required?

Yes. A refundable deposit is blocked on the main driver’s card at pick-up and released after the car is returned without damage, fines or missing fuel. The amount depends on the vehicle category.

Is insurance included in the price?

Compulsory third-party liability insurance is included in every rental. Additional cover that reduces or removes your own excess can be added at pick-up or during booking.

What happens if the car is damaged?

Call the police and obtain the official report, then contact us before moving the car where it is safe to do so. With additional cover your liability is limited to the excess; without it, repair costs are assessed against the condition recorded at handover.

Who pays traffic fines?

The renter. Fines in Kazakhstan are issued automatically against the vehicle, including after the car is returned, and are passed on to you at face value with the official notice.

Pick-up, return and delivery

Can I pick the car up at Almaty airport?

Yes. We deliver to Almaty International Airport (ALA) terminals as well as to hotels and addresses inside the city. Choose the delivery point when you book and tell us your flight number so we can track delays.

Can I return the car somewhere other than where I collected it?

Yes within Almaty — specify the return point when booking. Returns in another city are possible by arrangement and may carry a relocation fee.

What if I am late returning the car?

A short grace period applies, after which an additional day may be charged. Call us if you are running late — it is almost always resolvable.

Using the car

Is mileage limited?

Daily rentals include a generous free mileage allowance that covers normal city and regional driving. Long-distance and long-term rentals can be arranged with extended or unlimited mileage — ask us before you confirm the booking.

Can I take the rental car to the mountains or outside Almaty?

Yes, travel inside Kazakhstan is allowed. Mountain roads such as the route to Big Almaty Lake, Shymbulak or Charyn Canyon are best done in an SUV or crossover, and some unpaved sections may be restricted for low-clearance cars. Crossing an international border requires written permission in advance.

What fuel do I use, and how is fuel settled?

Use the grade stated in the car and on the agreement. The car is handed over with a recorded fuel level and should come back at the same level.

Do the cars have winter tyres?

Yes, during the cold season. Mountain roads above the city can hold snow and ice well into spring, so winter-ready cars stay on winter tyres longer than the city strictly requires.

Is child seat or GPS available?

Child seats and other extras can be requested with your booking. Tell us the child’s age so we provide the right group of seat — this is a legal requirement for young passengers in Kazakhstan.

Still have a question?

The full conditions are on the rental requirements page and in our Terms of Service. For anything specific to your dates, route or vehicle, write to us — a short message with your dates gets a precise answer.
